I FEEL HAPPY
Doing nothing, but laying alongside you,
in a masterpiece of bodies entwined,
designed to fit together on a Sunday morning
listening to Church bells ring.
I quietly inhale and exhale
to the rhythm of your breath
waiting for you to awaken.
I suppress any hint of erotic desire
patiently waiting for your embrace
that has never failed to comfort me.

I feel happy singing along
with my demented old friend
who remembers all the lyrics
of our favorite songs better than I can.
All it takes for him to start singing
is a momentary presentation
of the introduction to the song

And, I feel happy when I write a poem
that is accepted for publication,
especially when I lose count
of the number published.
